Exhortation for Young Men

Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.

In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works :  in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,

Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.  TITUS 2:6,7,8

As the Day of the Lord approaches, young men are to show forth certain behaviour patterns that prove to be a 'right witness' of the coming kingdom of Christ Jesus.  The judgments of God that are coming upon the earth call forth godliness and holiness within the church belonging to Jesus Christ.

The falling away at the end of this age is, in part, sown into through a lack of sobriety among the young men; the young men of the church are to be sober minded as to endure unto the end of this age, and they are to be sober minded as to attain to the first coming resurrection of the dead.  Watchfulness, being ready, and having a disposition to study the holy scriptures are things that add weight to being sober minded.

A pattern of good works in all things gives ensamples of readiness throughout daily happenings.  Humility and trust in the Holy Ghost prepares young men for a pattern of good works in all things.

Uncorruptness in doctrine shines the light of Christ in this present world.  Uncorruptness is understood in a life that is free of fornication and lascivious behaviour.  Fornication corrupts doctrine and is to be condemned*.  Healing ministries are to be ready for those repenting of fornication and for those ready to live a godly life in Christ Jesus free of corruption.

*Babies are holy to God, and they are to be brought up in sound doctrine.

Gravity in doctrine gives weight towards a readiness and a preparatory disposition towards the Day of Christ.  Gravity comes forth from being sober minded and adds weight to sound doctrine.  If a man is grave in doctrine, then his manner of life gives proof that there is coming a day of judgment.

Sincerity in doctrine shows a love for doctrinal issues.  There is a duty and labour in doctrine that calls forth much sincerity from those labouring therein as to keep the gravity of the Day of Christ at the forefront of all doctrinal issues.

Sound speech that cannot be condemned is the fruit of such a holy labour in doctrine by young men; a pattern of good works undergirded with sobriety bears and gives birth to sound speech.
